"Accessing information on Scotland’s historic environment – meeting user needs"

Invitation to Workshop
"Accessing information on Scotland’s historic environment – meeting user needs"
21st June 2012, central Edinburgh, 9.40 – 2.30pm
Calling all users of heritage data!
Historic Scotland and key stakeholder organisations are keen to find out how people use and access information on Scotland’s historic environment. We are looking to improve both the quality and accessibility of our records; to develop a shared digital resource of information that meets your needs. You are invited to a FREE workshop which will take place on 21st June in central Edinburgh – 9.40 – 2.30pm (including sandwich lunch). The workshop is a joint event being hosted by BEFS, Historic Scotland, RCAHMS and ALGAO Scotland. By attending you will:
· get up to date information and thinking on how records are being managed both centrally and at local level;
· a chance to meet and hear the views of other people that use heritage information;
· the opportunity to share your experiences of using information;
· the chance to shape thinking on how to improve the whole ‘system’ of historic environment information management.
· There will also be the opportunity to give your views via an online survey.

The event will be relevant for a wide range of users including local historians, community councils, archaeologists, conservation officers and planners, architects, property owners, developers, museum curators, researchers, teachers.
