The talk is titled: 'Maintaining the Civil Engineering Heritage on Scotland’s Canals' and the speaker is George McBurnie, Project Manager, British Waterways.
Scotland’s Canals were constructed between 1768 & 1822 and contain many historic and outstanding structures, which are still in daily use. The canals were the work of several eminent engineers; Smeaton, Telford & Rennie and local engineer Hugh Baird. British Waterways Scotland is responsible for keeping in these assets good order and George McBurnie, Project Manager, British Waterways Scotland, will tell us how this is achieved and some of the problems encountered.Further details available here.
