Free Training Event on Machine Tools

STICK are co-hosting a free training event with the Museums Association on Wednesday 18 May looking at Scottish machine tools.

The event, at Summerlee Museum in Coatbridge, will include talks by James Wood and Daniel Mackay MBE, the Monument Fellows based at National Museums Scotland and North Lanarkshire Council Museums and Heritage respectively. Attendees will learn about the history and use of machine tools in Scotland, how the machines worked and how to identify them.

The day will be of interest not only to curators with machine tools in their collections but any museum professionals who wish to learn how metal components were fabricated.

This event is part of the Museums Association's Monument Fellowship Scheme, with funding from the Monument Trust. The aim of this scheme is to enable knowledge transfer from former curators and those nearing retirement.
