On Friday 3 June 2011 at 3pm, McCance Lecture Theatre, University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, Alessandro Portelli will be speaking on the topic 'Thirty Years of field work in Harlen County: Oral History as method and practice.'
Prof. Alessandro Portelli is Professor of American Literature at the University of Rome - La Sapienza and is one of the world's leading experts on oral history. His work in Harlen County, Kentucky (Appalachia) is a study of the oral history of coal mining in the area.
